THE SKIN DOCTORS HANDBOOK

Welcome to The Skin Care Manual

INTRODUCTION

I have written this book / created this website to help all those people out there who want to know how to maintain their healthy skin, as well as for people suffering from various skin problems.

There is a lot you can do yourself to keep your skin healthy, as well as improve problems like pigmentation, wrinkles, aging, and solar damage.

You can do this with relatively affordable and accessible skin care products, if you know which products to use and how to use them!

One of the most frequent skin problems I see in my skin clinic is IRRITATED INFLAMED SKIN THAT IS REACTING TO ALL THE DAMAGING PRODUCTS PEOPLE ARE PUTTING ON THEIR FACES, because a friend/ relative/ influencer/ pharmacist or well-meaning doctor told them to.

I would see people every day in my clinic, with bags full of all sorts of expensive creams and serums and lotions, with fancy packaging,  and most of them had no idea what was in these products, whether they were what they needed, or how to use them!

I trained originally as a Family Physician in Australia, and about 15 years ago, I completed further training in Dermatology, Herbal Medicine, and Corneotherapy.

Corneotherapy? – It’s all about supporting and healing our natural skin function, which may have been damaged by all sorts of things- natural aging, excessive solar radiation, poor diet, using harsh soaps or inappropriate products… and that’s just the start.

I learned how to formulate creams containing bio-identical fats, vitamins and plant extracts, which had skin rejuvenating and healing properties. The idea was not to look at our skin not  as a medical disease with a diagnosis, but more importantly, that there was some dysfunction in the skin’s innate healing and regenerating function that needed correcting.

And I must say, the results were dramatic. Just have a look at the before and after photos and you will see what I am talking about.

Please note these photos were taken about ten years ago. Due to a change in practice policy where I worked, I was unable to extract other photos, even when the patients gave their permission.

I also stopped making the creams after a few years. I found the process very time-consuming at the end of a busy day seeing patients.

So I advised patients on what to use and not use on their skin, and predominantly prescribed tretinoin in various strengths, usually 0.05%.

The results with tretinoin were good; however, I think the creams I made up were more effective in many areas, especially with their antioxidant and sun-protecting effects, as well as providing strong skin barrier support with their fatty base creams.

I have written detailed articles on how to treat some of the most common skin conditions yourself, using products very similar to the ones I compounded for patients in the Case Study section.

I have also composed comprehensive self-treatment protocols that you can start right now. I am sure you will be very pleased with the results.
