A74-Year-Old Woman with Aged, Sun-Damaged Skin

When she initially came to me to see if anything could be done for her wrinkles, she was hesitant to ask for help with her overall appearance “given my age”. When she expressed she felt a bit vain, I reassured her this wasn’t the case as it was important for people to feel and look as good as they can.

During our initial discussion, I learned her diet and facial regimen wasn’t ideal. She had minimal fat intake, didn’t drink a lot of water, and was using a coconut oil-based moisturizer.

I noted she had:

Pronounced wrinkling, especially over her chin, upper lip and around her eyes.

Irregular hyperpigmentation/brown blotches.

Dry skin with diffuse redness.

I concluded she had a combination of essential fatty acid deficiency, damaged elastin and collagen, and dry skin with diffuse redness.

Her prescribed treatment regimen she was to use twice daily for a week, then once in the evening:

High Classic Plus base cream (composed of fatty acids/ ceramides)  to replace the fatty acid deficiency.

To this I added vitamins A and C, Kigelia Extract and Whitening Concentrate which contained several botanical extracts known to reduce melanin production-common mallow, cowslip, lemon balm.

I advised her to use the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser twice a day.

The results were remarkable, as can be seen in the before-and-after photos (the after photo was taken only six weeks after the first).

There’s much less wrinkling around her upper lip and chin, and there are far less blotches and blemishes. Her skin has a younger, healthier, more vibrant appearance. Plus, she’s obviously much happier than when she first came in.

During a follow-up exam, I immediately notice how much more outgoing and relaxed she was, and that her interaction with the world seemed to have dramatically changed.

Below is a photo of her on her way to her gym class, to do a session with her personal trainer.

When I showed my colleagues this photo, the general consensus was that she was “in her mid to late 50s.” They wouldn’t believe she was 74 until I showed them her initial photos (and even then, they thought her transformation was remarkable!). She turned 75 two weeks after this photo was taken.
