A 60-Year-Old Woman with Wrinkling and Pigmentation

This delightful 60-year-old woman came to see me because she was concerned about her wrinkles, uneven complexion, and sagging skin, especially around her neck and jawline.

“I don’t like my double chin,” she said.

Her current cosmetic use was a facial wipe (alcohol-based), and a well-known moisturizer.

During my initial examination, I noted:

Diffuse redness across her cheeks and nose, with a background of oily skin and enlarged sebaceous glands on her nose.

Her under-chin skin was indeed drooping (aka: “turkey neck”). She had with prominent deep wrinkles below her eyes, and over her upper lip and chin.

She had oily skin that had probably been aggravated by a high GI (sugar) diet.

Her skin’s condition revealed a combination of diffuse redness, UV-related collagen and elastin loss, and related hyperpigmentation.

I advised that her double chin would respond more to a dietary change (unfortunately, that meant eating less chocolate) than the creams I could provide her.

Her prescribed treatment regimen was to apply the following twice daily:

DMS Classic base cream

Kigelia Extract

Whitening Concentrate

Anti-Wrinkle Serum with Para Cress extract, containing Spilanthol -which reduces the muscle contractions of the facial lines, and its relaxing influence causes a visible smoothing effect.

Liposome Concentrate Plus

During her six-week check-up, although she had improved significantly (see second photo), she was still concerned about her persistent pigmentation.

I added extra vitamin A cream (tretinoin 0.05% medical prescription grade) to use at night, and she was to continue using the previously described cream during the day.

I also provided her with an eye cream containing Coenzyme Q10, kigelia extract, hyaluronic acid, ceramide, phytosterols, and skin-caring lipids – with meadowfoam seed oil, olive oil, and shea butter.

(You can see the results in the third photo that was taken about four weeks later. The skin of her lower eyelids is firmer, less wrinkled, and brighter looking.)

Her skin’s health and resilience had improved so that when she started using the extra Vitamin A cream, her skin tolerated the relatively strong dosage without any irritation. She only used the tretinoin for about a month; then continued with only the original cream, and the eye cream.

“I now only have one chin,” she said happily, knowing she has an upcoming wedding to attend.

She is continuing to use only the dermaviduals® cream to maintain her improvement.
